Why does rain fall?

Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then become heavy enough to fall under gravity. Cumulus clouds( having flat bases and often described as "puffy", "cotton-like" or "fluffy" in appearance; generally low level clouds) can create rain showers in a matter of minutes when atmospheric turbulence exceeds a threshold, greatly increasing the rate of droplet collisions.
